Item #: EA-061
Object Class: Secure
Name: Bongo Bender
Containment: EA-061 is to be contained in a standard anomalous item containment locker at Outpost Eta. Access to EA-061 requires Level 4 clearance and must be authorized by the site's Containment Supervisor. As EA-061 is not inherently dangerous when not in use, additional containment measures are not required.
Profile: EA-061 is a single bongo drum made of a blue wood material not currently known to mankind. The drum's appearance is otherwise conventional, with blue, purple, and pink strings wrapped around the edge of the top. The most notable feature is a cyan clock symbol located on top of the drum, possibly hinting at its anomalous properties.
When EA-061 is played, it produces a sound with a memetic effect that alters the perception of time for anyone who hears it. The specific effect varies depending on the rhythm and intensity of the drumming.
Instances of time alteration include:
- Time Slowing Down: Listeners experience a slowing down of their perception of time, causing events to seem to unfold at a significantly reduced pace. This effect can create a state of heightened awareness and reaction time, useful in critical situations requiring quick thinking and precision.
- Time Speeding Up: Listeners experience a speeding up of their perception of time, making events appear to happen at an accelerated rate. This effect can be utilized to endure monotonous or tedious tasks more efficiently, as well as to enhance productivity in time-sensitive endeavors.
- Temporal Synchronization: When multiple individuals listen to EA-061 simultaneously, their perceptions of time align, leading to a shared sense of time. This synchronization allows for better coordination in group activities and facilitates a deep understanding of each other's actions.
The powers exhibited by EA-061 can be highly advantageous in various scenarios. Here are three ways the powers can be useful:
- Emergency Response: Slowing down time can grant individuals in emergency situations more time to react and make critical decisions. This can be especially valuable in disaster response and rescue operations, allowing responders to assess the situation calmly and make better choices to save lives.
- Productivity and Efficiency: Speeding up time can significantly increase productivity in various fields. In industries with repetitive tasks, such as manufacturing and data entry, workers can accomplish more within a shorter period, leading to increased output and efficiency.
- Synchronization in Team Activities: Temporal synchronization can be applied in teamwork scenarios, enabling team members to be in sync with each other's actions and intentions. This can enhance coordination during complex operations, military maneuvers, and collaborative projects, reducing the risk of miscommunication and improving overall performance.
