Containment: EA-071 is to be housed within a 12m x 12m x 6m containment chamber located in the Quiet Sector of Outpost Pi. The chamber is to be lined with soft, sound-absorbing material and illuminated with low, ambient lighting no brighter than 20 lux. No reflective surfaces are permitted within or near the containment area. EA-071 is not to be directly observed for extended periods unless for approved research.

Profile: EA-071 is an entity resembling a loosely coiled mass of translucent tissue suspended in midair. Its core body appears partially amorphous, taking on different subtle shapes depending on its perceived emotional state. The surface is semi-reflective and faintly bioluminescent, with slow pulses of dim grey-blue light emanating from within. It floats approximately 1.2 meters above the floor and moves sluggishly in reaction to sound, temperature, and presence.

EA-071 does not speak, vocalise, or communicate through recognisable gestures, but it emits a low-frequency hum that modulates in patterns correlated with human emotional states. When a person enters its chamber, EA-071 will gradually shift its hum to match the individual's emotional tone, often amplifying feelings of melancholy, regret, or yearning. Those who spend more than ten minutes in its presence often begin to cry uncontrollably, even if they entered the space in stable condition. In debriefings, subjects describe sudden, vivid memories of people they have lost, relationships that failed, or futures they never reached.

It is unclear whether EA-071 induces these thoughts or simply draws them to the surface. Brain scans during exposure have shown increased activity in areas associated with grief, nostalgia, and unresolved emotional trauma. Personnel often report feeling "seen" or "understood" by EA-071, despite its lack of recognisable sensory organs or communication methods.

EA-071 was discovered in a ruined house on the outskirts of a long-abandoned village. It hovered silently in the centre of a collapsed nursery, surrounded by children's books and toys that had long since rotted away. EA-071 made no attempt to resist containment and appeared to grow dimmer when removed from the ruins.
